Elizabeth is an academic cardiologist, World Heart Federation Emerging Leader and Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiology Emerging Leader. She gained her medical degree from the University of Melbourne with honours (2010) and qualified as a cardiologist in 2017. Alongside her medical and cardiology training she undertook additional studies at Imperial College London (2007-08, laboratory-based research in pulmonary hypertension) and Harvard University (2015-16, biostatistics and epidemiology). Her PhD, completed in 2022 at the Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute, focused on young cardiac arrest and received the Clinical Ralph Reader Cardiac Society Prize (Australian cardiology’s most prestigious research prize), the Melbourne University Chancellor’s Prize for Excellence, the Dean’s Award for Excellence in the PhD Thesis, and the TJ Martin and Paul Korner PhD Medals at St Vincent’s Hospital and the Baker Institute respectively.

She has >100 peer-reviewed journal articles in prestigious international and national journals, is an editor on two international journals and has presented widely at national and international conferences.

She is also Deputy Medical Director of the East Timor Hearts Fund, travelling to Timor-Leste regularly to provide volunteer cardiac services. She is one of just a handful of designated aviation cardiologists in Australia, and a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME).

Clinically, Elizabeth is co-lead of the St Vincent’s Hospital Amyloidosis Clinic and leads multiple clinical registries and trials. Her particular areas of expertise are in cardiac imaging, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiac amyloidosis, cardiac arrest and perioperative medicine.

Elizabeth acts as a consultant cardiologist, designated aviation cardiologist and perioperative physician.
