Dr Deepu Thaiparambil Balakrishnan completed his physician and cardiology training at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, followed by an interventional cardiology fellowship at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

He then undertook advanced subspecialty training in complex coronary and structural heart interventions in the United Kingdom, gaining extensive experience in high-risk and technically demanding procedures. After returning to Australia, Dr Balakrishnan has practised as a consultant cardiologist in Victoria, with a particular focus on complex structural heart interventions and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI).

Dr Balakrishnan has broad expertise in both the medical and interventional management of cardiovascular disease. His clinical practice spans Complex Coronary Intervention, including high-risk and technically challenging procedures, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) for patients with advanced valvular heart disease, and General Cardiology, covering a wide range of cardiac conditions. He is highly experienced in percutaneous treatment of structural heart disease and in providing evidence-based medical management tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

He currently consults across eight Nepean Cardiology locations: Frankston, Berwick, Cranbourne, Hastings, Patterson Lakes, Rosebud, Cape Woolamai (Phillip Island), and Wonthaggi, providing patients and referring doctors with convenient access to specialist cardiac care.

Dr Balakrishnan works closely with referring doctors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive cardiac assessment and management. His approach emphasises procedural precision, patient safety, and long-term cardiovascular outcomes.
